ARB Air Compressor Install

I do not have antilock brakes on my rig so that leaves me with some extra room in the engine compartment on the passenger side. The first thing I did was to install a Dual Battery setup. After deciding that air lockers were in my future, my first step was to get the ARB air compressor. To get it to fit under the hood all I had to do was to slightly modify the location of my battery isolator and to dump my K&N FIPK heat shield.

The install took about 2 1/2 hours mainly to figure out and place the activation switch. Due to the slope of the wheel well at that spot, I did have to use a stack of washers for one of the bolts to keep things level. When I do get the lockers I will have to reconfigure the pressure gauge and hose connector as how they sit right now would conflict with the solenoids for the lockers.

I ended up going with a location on the lower part of the center console. The airbag "brain" is back there, but there is ample room on the driver side to play with. After some careful measuring and some work with an exacto blade, the hole was cut and fit like a glove!! There are two extra wires built into the circuit that enable the switch and provide power for the switch lights. For this I tapped into the power feed for the two 12V power outlets to the right of the switch. I have not modified this circuit to be on at all times so it suited my need perfectly without any need to run a wire all the way up to the ignition switch. For the light feed, I tapped into the line that powers up the lights on the center console using a relay. This way when the headlights are on, the compressor switch lights up! All I need now is the $$$ for the lockers! In the meantime, no worries about airing up after a run.

Post Mod Notes: after getting the lockers installed, I ended up needing more room for the switches.  So, I fabbed up a panel to hold then that would fit in the same place that I originally placed the compressor power switch.  The compressor is fine for locker use, but I wouldn't use it to air up my 35's.
