ARB Sahara Bar Install for the Toyota Tundra

My "old"

Tundra!

I could barely contain myself when the word came down that my Sahara Bar from ARB had arrived! My first thought when I saw the box, ITS FRIGGIN HUGE!! It barely fit in the bed of my truck and I had to tie down my shell tail gate for the drive home as it stuck out about 6 inches. The next problem was when I got home. It was heavy too!!! I was able to get it out of the truck OK, but that was it. It was far too heavy to manage by myself. My lovely and most understanding fiancée came to the rescue and helped me get it into the garage (I cooked dinner that night!).

If you surf out the ARB site and check out their photo of the bar installed, you will see that the grille hoop is chrome. I have been trying to get rid of as much chrome as possible on my truck, so that issue need immediate attention. My solution was to take the hoop to Andrews Powder Coating out in the San Fernando valley. These guys are top notch! They sand blasted the bar to etch the chrome (luckily it was a good quality chrome job so it did not need re-plating!). Two days later, they had the hoop powdered an nice semi-gloss black! While the hoop was getting done, I did a dry fit just to get a feel for what the bar would look like.
